Lang’s newest body of work presents a compelling and immersive meditation on the fragility of civilization and the contradictions of the human condition

Duran Contemporain is proud to present "de temps en temps", a solo exhibition of new paintings by Mark Lang.

Lang’s newest body of work presents a compelling and immersive meditation on the fragility of civilization and the contradictions of the human condition. At the center of the exhibition is *de temps en temps*, a monumental painting that stages a visual conversation between destruction and hope, evoking the panoramic storytelling of the Northern Renaissance with a contemporary edge.

In *de temps en temps*, a city in flames clashes against a pastoral dreamscape, divided by a single tree. Protesters, robots, and surreal figures surge on one side, while fields of gold and sacred geometries bloom on the other. At the painting’s center, a reclining woman rests beneath an apple tree, suspended in a moment of reflection — caught between two possible worlds.

Mark Lang’s work is known for its meticulous detail, symbolism, and ability to channel timeless themes through the lens of modern turmoil. This exhibition marks a significant new chapter in his career and invites viewers to consider the cyclical nature of conflict, renewal, and choice.
