Daniel Itiose is a hyper-realistic oil painter originally from Nigeria and currently based in Montreal. After discovering the medium in late 2017, he became obsessed with exploring the human condition through portraiture. Inspired by his real life community, Itiose meticulously captures individuals with bold stories to tell - through every pore, hair and blemish. Rather than beautifying the subject, he allows for each imperfection to better illustrate the story. Working from photographic references, Itiose enjoys the paradox of hyperrealism and aims to outstrip technology to create something truly one-of-a-kind. He states, “My work is a collection of thoughts and emotions frozen in time.”
