SHAWN HUCKINS: MOONRISE IN A CLEAR HEAVEN
April 3, 2025 – May 10, 2025
Duran Contemporain

Duran Contemporain is proud to present Moonrise In A Clear Heaven, a solo exhibition by acclaimed American artist Shawn Huckins. Opening on April 3, 2025, this exhibition unveils a new series of hyperrealistic oil and acrylic paintings that explore the intersection of materiality, light, and perception. Huckins’ meticulous technique transforms ordinary objects—draped satin, crinkled mylar, and reflective surfaces—into compositions of mesmerizing depth and luminosity.

Drawing inspiration from both the grandeur of American Romanticism and the refined elegance of French classicism, Huckins’ work bridges two aesthetic worlds. His references to the sweeping landscapes of the Hudson River School, particularly artists such as Albert Bierstadt, evoke an expansiveness that contrasts with the controlled intimacy of his chosen materials. This dynamic tension—between vastness and precision, the ephemeral and the permanent—defines Moonrise In A Clear Heaven.

Huckins’ paintings are more than exercises in hyperrealism; they are meditations on stillness, light, and the shifting boundaries of perception. The exhibition invites viewers to slow down, to engage deeply with the play of reflection and texture, and to consider the ways in which the ordinary can be transformed into the sublime.
