The intention of black and white contemporary art can vary depending on the artist and their motivations. Artists will use a black and white palette to create a sense of simplicity or to focus attention on the form and composition of the piece. While removing the association of colour, the viewer is engaged with a composition which can evoke a multitude of different moods and emotions. Duran Mashaal brought this group of artists together to question and discuss how a colourless art works impact the perception of a narrative.
